Research Consultant

Mthokozisi holds a research Master of Social Science degree in Public Policy and is an associate Research Consultant at Urban Earth.

Prior to his association with Urban Earth, Mthokozisi worked in both the public and private higher education space – at the Durban University of Technology and Educor, a private education management firm that manages five national private higher education colleges. Mthokozisi is a stakeholder engagement enthusiast and has worked on several stakeholder engagement projects. He has provided project support in data collection and data processing for various projects including a socio-economic impact investigation of the Agri-Parks initiative on small holder farmers in the Amajuba District as well as a case study of self-built housing models for peri-urban areas in uMzinyathi, KwaZulu-Natal.

Through his master’s research, Mthokozisi has gained in-depth experience in conducting scientific research, desktop studies and analysing qualitative data. While conducting this research, Mthokozisi has engaged in a variety of topical subjects including good-governance, food security, sustainability, agriculture and local governance. He has also written about higher education and policy monitoring & evaluation which resulted in a manuscript entitled “A Critical Assessment of the Influence of Massification on Higher Education Policy in South Africa”.

Outside of work, Mthokozisi enjoys reading, taking long walks and exploring outdoor spaces.
